Historically within the structure of the martial arts by the time a student earned his or her black belt they would have developed the traits needed to become a black belt by following the methods set forth from the senior students. As instructors we have had success with this method in the past and have seen others struggle as well. What we have done with our leadership program is break down what traits we would like to see developed in our black belts into monthly lesson plans:
- Honesty & Integrity
Leadership students will also learn the weapons curriculum beginning with the Jo – short staff. Other weapons are taught at varied ranks and classes throughout their training. Within this program the students will also learn other styles of martial arts that Jon & Janine Moore Sensei have studied such as Judo, Iaido and Escrima.
We try to expose our students to the vastness to which the study of martial arts has to offer. We believe that there is a never-ending circle to the study. We can always learn more and become better at what we are doing, not just in the martial arts but in life as well.
